We do not resell other people's tours. Every circuit below is run by our own guides and drivers, on routes we drive again ourselves before each season opens. Any of them can be joined as a fixed departure or run privately for two people upward.

01South-west · the volcano

Mount Cameroon, from Buea at a thousand metres.

The mountain is climbed from Molyko in Buea, through the Mount Cameroon Ecotourism Organisation, which allocates guides and porters in rotation between the mountain villages. That is a rule we follow rather than a policy we invented, and it is why the trek costs what it costs.

CIR-01 Grade 3 3 days · 2 nights in huts

Fako Ascent — the Guinness route and down the north

Day one: register at Molyko, walk through farm and forest to Hut 1 at 1,860 m, lunch, then a long steady pull to Hut 2 at 2,860 m. Day two: summit at 4,095 m before the cloud comes up, then across the crater field to Mann's Spring. Day three: down through Bakingili or back to Buea by the same flank. Cold, exposed, and worth every hour of it.

CIR-02 Grade 2 1 day · from Buea or Limbe

Lava Fields & Mann's Spring day walk

For travellers who want the mountain without the summit. Up through the Bokwango side to the 1999 and 2000 flows, out across the black rock, and back down through elephant grass to a late lunch. Six hours walking, no altitude problem, and the same guides who take people to the top.

02Littoral · the coast

Black sand, and a waterfall that skips the river.

The coast either side of Douala is volcanic, so the beaches are grey-black and the water is warm all year. Nothing here is strenuous; these circuits exist to be the soft days in a longer trip, or a week on their own.

CIR-04 Grade 1 5 days · Limbe and Kribi

Black Sand — Limbe, Kribi and the Lobé

Limbe first: the Botanic Garden laid out in 1892, the wildlife centre that takes in confiscated primates, and Mile 6 beach with the mountain behind it. Then the long coast road south past Douala to Kribi, the Lobé falls, a pirogue up the estuary to the Batanga villages, and two unhurried mornings that we deliberately leave empty.

CIR-05 Grade 4 4 days · forest camping

Korup Rainforest — Mundemba and the Mana bridge

In from Kumba to Mundemba, across the suspension bridge over the Mana river, and three days on foot between the Chimpanzee and Rengo camps. Wet underfoot in any month, leech socks issued, drill monkey and forest elephant sign daily and sightings occasionally. The hardest circuit we sell and the one repeat travellers come back for.

03 — West & North-West · the highlands

The Ring Road, the palaces and the craft quarter.

Three hundred and sixty-seven kilometres of loop road out of Bamenda, at between 1,200 and 2,000 metres, through country that grows tea, coffee and almost everything else. This is the part of Cameroon most first-time visitors never see, and the part our guides argue is the best of it.

04North & Far North

Waza, Bénoué and the Mandara mountains.

The north is a different country: Sahel, Fulani, dry heat, and the only place in Cameroon with open-plain game viewing. It works from February to April and it does not work in August. We fly clients Douala–Garoua rather than lose two days to the road, unless they specifically want the road.

How is security handled in the north?

We follow current MINTOUL and embassy guidance for every division, review it monthly, and will move or cancel a northern circuit rather than run it against advice. No deposit is lost when we are the ones cancelling.

Do you run the cities as well?

Yes — Douala day (Bonanjo, Doual'art, La Nouvelle Liberté, the flower market) and Yaoundé day (Musée National, Mont Fébé, the Benedictine museum) are bookable on their own or as arrival and departure days.
